Later, I never had a chance to attend any Hindi Kavi Sammelan until I joined Queens based’India Home – A center for senior care’. By chance and by my luck, there I met distinguished, world renowned respected Hindi poet Dr. Bindeshwari Aggarwal. After getting to know each other, needless to say we became good friends. She is popularly known as Binduji who is
a prominent convenor and organizer with the ‘Akhil Vishwa Hindi Samiti’ in New York. They frequently organizing Hindi Kavi Sammelan (poetry recitations). Besides, she is very actively involved in our India Home programs, cultural festivals and other activities. We enjoyed her Hindi funny jokes, poetry, stand-up comedy, skits and spontaneous funny stories. Talented Binduji is a great orator as well. In short, she is a भूषण of our India Home…

When I asked Binduji to write her memories, she said, “Jayantiji, it is a good suggestion. I never thought about it.” And politely added further “What should I write about myself..? I simply have a passion for reading and writing. After working for many years at VSSD College in Kanpur, I currently try to contribute a little to the activities of the ‘Vishva Hindi Samiti’. I am the co-editor of the Hindi magazine ‘Saurabh’ and sometimes try my hand at writing poetry. Through poetry conferences (Kavi Sammelans), I get opportunities to travel to America and meet many literature enthusiasts. I also continue to teach Hindi to the students of New York University. For quite some time, some friends have been insisting I start a blog, so here I am.”
