India Home celebrated the inauguration of a new Senior Center in Hicksville on July 7, 2026, which marked the organization’s return to Long Island after over a decade. After participating in the Morgan Stanley Strategy Challenge in 2024 to strategize an expansion to Long Island, India Home was able to fulfill our goal to expand culturally competent services for South Asian and Indo-Caribbean older adults on Long Island.
The inauguration celebration brought together community members, elected officials, partners, and supporters to commemorate the opening of a new space dedicated to helping seniors age with dignity, independence, and meaningful community connections.
Located at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (130 Jerusalem Avenue, Hicksville, NY), the new center operates every Tuesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering a welcoming environment where older adults can connect with one another while participating in programs that support their physical, emotional, and social well-being. Seniors have access to wellness activities, educational workshops, cultural celebrations, nutritious meals, recreational programming, and community resources,
all thoughtfully designed to meet the unique needs of South Asian and Indo-Caribbean older adults.
The launch of the Hicksville Senior Center was made possible through the generous support of the Guru Krupa Foundation, whose investment reflects a shared commitment to improving the quality of life for older adults in our community. India Home is deeply grateful for the Foundation’s partnership in helping expand access to culturally responsive services for seniors on Long Island.
During the inauguration, Mukund Padmanabhan of the Guru Krupa Foundation joined India Home leadership, community members, elected officials, and supporters to celebrate the opening of the new center. His participation highlighted the Foundation’s dedication to strengthening communities and supporting initiatives that promote healthy aging, social connection, and independence for seniors. The Guru Krupa Foundation’s generosity has played a vital role in making this expansion possible, ensuring that more older adults have access to programs that celebrate their culture while fostering wellness and belonging.
The celebration featured remarks from community leaders, tours of the new facility, and vibrant cultural performances that reflected the rich traditions of the community India Home serves. It was a joyful occasion that celebrated not only a new location, but a shared vision of creating a more connected and supportive future for older adults on Long Island.
India Home also extends its sincere appreciation to The New York Community Trust – Long Island and the Association of Indians in America (AIA National) for their valued partnership and support. Together, these organizations have helped make the Hicksville Senior Center a reality and strengthened India Home’s ability to serve the growing South Asian and Indo-Caribbean senior population on Long Island.
As India Home continues to grow, the Hicksville Senior Center represents more than a new program site, it is a place where seniors can build friendships, access essential resources, and remain active members of their community. We look forward to welcoming our older adult community to the Hicksville center for years to come.
