as awarded and honored Dadasaheb Phalke Pratisthan award in Pune for  dedicated service in
rare music and related collection…

Dear Well Wishers,
Who will forget 1960’s Indian epic historical drama film Mughal-e-Azam (The Great Mughal Emperor Akbar),produced and directed by K. Asif. Well, I was 13 years old when I saw this movie at Maratha Mandir theater in Mumbai with my dear father. I do remebered the day was 5 August, 1960…

Anyway, director K. Asif came from Pakistan. Later K. Asif called his close friend lyricist Tanveer Naqvi came to Mumbai from Pakistan as well. They both were working for Filmistan company in Mumbai. At the same time their another friend and well known music director S. Mohinder also came from Pakistan. K. Asif wanted lyricist Tanveer Naqvi to write songs for his movie Mughal-e-Azam. So, music director S. Mohinder and lyricist Tanveer Naqvi teamed together for K. Asif’s Mughal-e-Azam. Later, it didn’t work out due to K. Asif changed his mind and asked music director Naushad Ali for Mughal-e-Azam. Well, lyricist Shakeel Badayuni always used to work with Naushad. Then Lyricist Tanveer Naqvi got upset and insulted, he went back to Pakistan… Rest is the history.

Our friend Music director S. Mohinder and Madhubala with rare record ‘Gujara Huwa Jamana…’

Actress Madhubala and actress singer Suraiya were very close friend of music director S. Mohinder. We used to know music director S. Mohinder (Mohinder Sarana) very well. He was living in Virginia, USA, with his daughter. Thanx to Mohinderji who gave us above memorable information… More later on.

Stay in tune with regards,
Jayant & Veena.
